Speech-Language Pathology (Online) - Admission FAQs
Where can I locate the applications?
How do I submit my transcripts?
All transcripts are to be submitted through the CSDCAS application system. Please check the CSDCAS FAQ's section for instructions on how to submit transcripts to CSDCAS.
Send official transcripts to JMU’s Graduate School only if you accept JMU’s offer of admission.
Are GRE scores required for admission?
No. As of 2022, the JMU M.S. SLP (online) program no longer requires GRE scores.
Are letters of recommendation required?
Yes. Two letters of recommendation are required. One letter should be from a faculty member. The second letter can be from an employer or from a leader in an extracurricular organization (e.g., athletics, community agency, on and off-campus clubs etc.). We are looking for your letter writers to provide evidence of your critical-thinking skills, and interpersonal skills, such as compassion, collaboration, adaptability, resilience, and openness to feedback. Letter writers should not be friends or family members, unless they have been your employer or a leader in one of your extracurricular activities.
What is my application status?
Visit JMU’s Graduate School website to check the status of your application: https://www.jmu.edu/grad/prospective/applicant-status.shtml
If you are having trouble accessing your application information, please contact email@example.com
How do I change my contact information on the application?
Applicants may edit contact information through both CSDCAS and their JMU MyMadison account.
Do you offer open houses/information sessions?
Yes, all applicants are welcomed and encouraged to attend our information sessions, either on campus or online. For a schedule refer to our website
When will I be notified of a decision?
You will be notified of the admission committee’s decision in March. If offered admission, you will receive additional information through the mail. If you are offered a place on the waiting list and accept, we will be in contact with you when an opening becomes available.
There are a limited number of students accepted in each cohort. We ask that you confirm your decision to attend JMU or be placed on the waiting list as soon as possible.
Can I make an appointment with someone from the program?
Due to the high volume of inquiries and applications, we are unable to offer individual appointments. However, we encourage prospective students to check our website for detailed information on the application process as well as dates for open houses. If after reviewing the website you still have questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
