Financial aid is available through the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and/or the office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at James Madison University.  Several sources of funding, primarily in terms of graduate assistantships, are available to graduate students studying audiology, with a limited number of assistantships granted each year to exceptionally qualified students. Assistantships are granted based solely on academic merit; students’ financial situations are not considered. Graduate assistantships are available within the CSD department or through other departments and offices across JMU.  Students working in assistantships are typically required to work 15-20 hours per week; required hours, duties, and responsibilities will vary. All students are welcome and encouraged to apply for assistantships in non-CISAT departments and offices at JMU and should apply through The Graduate School website or office (17 West Grace St., MSC 6702, James Madison University, Harrisonburg VA 22807).  Recipients of a GA should familiarize themselves with the requirements for receiving and maintaining their positions as found on the TGS website. Graduate assistants must maintain full-time student status (9 semester credit hours) throughout the duration of the position, unless permission is otherwise granted.  Continuing eligibility, as determined by The Graduate School, requires that the student maintain a 3.0 GPA.  Graduate assistantships are usually awarded for only one year (defined as Fall, Spring and Summer semesters), although the student may be invited to continue in the position.
