FIRST - JMU Communication Sciences and Disorders

Every summer, the JMU Speech-Language Pathology program holds a four-week long camp for children (ages three to seven) with speech-language impairments to provide intense intervention in a fun, educational environment. Camp is held four days a week for three hours per day, each year in a different location within the Harrisonburg/Rockingham community. Applications must be completed by a parent/guardian along with a recommendation from the child’s speech-language pathologist. Since this is an intense program, participants must be able to commit to attending for the entire four weeks. In the week prior to the start of camp, we typically have one day where the campers are able to come in, see their classroom and meet with the clinicians and supervisors. Space is limited as we have a 1:1 ratio of campers to graduate students.
