JMU SAA News & Events

On June 9-10, 2017, the JMU SAA chapter worked with the JMU Speech Pathology master’s students to promote Healthy Hearing by providing hearing screenings to over 100 athletes at the Special Olympics event in Richmond, Virginia. A special thank you to Dr. Sara Conrad, an alumna of the JMU Audiology Doctorate program, for her hard work in coordinating the students’ involvement!

The Walk to End Alzheimer's was locally held on the morning of October 22, 2016. All of JMU SAA, and several of their loved ones, attended the event and participated in fundraising efforts. JMU SAA, with the help of our family and friends, raised over $1700 for the Alzheimer's Association.

On September 24th, the JMU chapter of SAA hosted the 2016 White Coat. The ceremony is held annually to celebrate the first year doctor of audiology students and welcome them into the profession.  This year's Key Note speaker was Dr. Erin Piker, Au.D., Ph.D., who spoke about her experiences establishing the Student Academy of Audiology as a founding member and the opportunity new clinicians have to sculpt the profession of Audiology.  She offered both encouraging advice and humor for the students and their respective families.
