Dr. Kristin Wehman Sewall will be receiving the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award at the 2014 Ruth Symposium.  Dr. Sewall received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from JMU.  She, and members of her 2004 graduating class, was among the first 10 doctoral students to receive the Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders at JMU.  As an undergraduate, Kristin's work in Dr. Ryal's research laboratory culminated in a first authored presentation at the American Speech Language Hearing Association.  Her doctoral dissertation was mentored by Dr. Roger Ruth. Since graduating Dr. Sewall has remained in the Harrisonburg area working at Blue Ridge Hearing Center and, most recently began full-time work with Dr. Michael Alexiou at the Alexiou Hearing and Sinus Center.  In addition to her private clinical practice, since 2011 Dr. Sewall has been part-time faculty at JMU teaching "Introduction to Audiology" and influencing the future professional choices of many JMU CSD undergraduates.  We are honored to present Dr. Sewall with the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award.
